unmatched
Coming from a family where all us kids were boys, I’m still fathoming the differences between the sexes.
This evening I attempted to dress Bella for bed. No go: she completely did her nana and ran off to hide in her play-hut. Red, puffy face, hi-volume screaming, tears… the lot.
My crime – and absolutely heinous it was too, apparently – was to produce pyjama pants for her to wear that were not colour co-ordinated with the top.
I find the importance of this hard enough to grasp at age 35. She’s got it nailed down at three. Is this a girl thing?

It's not a gender thing. My daughter insists on mixing them up. http://vital.org.nz/blog/2003/07/31#hannahdoorpic

I think you may be right - it's probably just the capriciousness of the very young. Last night, she *insisted* that she wear the very non-matching pants that she had the fit about on Sunday. I guess I should just relax and enjoy.
