ballet with explosives
Despite the fireworks going off all around here in suburbia, pops, whistles and other assorted explosions, Rosa has not woken up, which is good. Up until recently it’s just been me and Rosa at home, while Becky and Bella went to the Ballet (I walked up to the St James at lunchtime to get tickets rather then subject myself to that website again).
Apparently Bella was on top form, asking Becky lots of questions about the characters (“When is Tinkerbell coming back?”) and generally being fairly adorable. (I’m a bit like a cracked record, aren’t I.) I had my doubts that she’d sit still for all two and a half hours, but she did, not losing it once or even falling asleep. Then on the way home was the added bonus of the Council fireworks display, a bumper celebration of the foiling of a terrorist (or Catholic freedom fighters, if you prefer) plot almost 400 years ago.
So quite a nice outing that Bella will remember for a while yet.

I quite enjoyed the WCC fireworks - walked over to the top of the cable car to watch 'em, then came home and lit my own (a whole $13 bag full) with flatmates. Quite spectacular, I thought.

I'm disappointed I missed it. Maybe next year. I work in a building overlooking the harbour, so I've got a pretty good spot if I can get there...
