big and small
At the weekend time must be spent outside working against the complete regrowth of the jungle that we optimistically call our ”garden”.
On Sunday I was about to seriously hack to pieces a rose bush that’s been bugging me for years. (It has overgrown the path to the compost bin, snagging me each time I pass it.) But then I found it overrun with these. And there’s no way that rose is going now.

Bella loves doing this sort of stuff with me. We could spend hours looking at ants and spiders and birds and flowers and all the rest. And sometimes we do.
The photo shows all that: the big and the small.
Elsewhere on Sunday, (and this is more a note to myself) another row of spuds went in, and I trimmed the grass up the side of the stairs to the road.

That is a beautiful image. I love dad'n'daughter nature moments too. I get a little vicarious thrill, as though I'd arranged these things for her. Look! Ps: preview displays black text on aubergine, perhaps not the most legible colour comination …

You've nailed that feeling, all right. And I love it when she spots something for herself - lately she's been monitoring the flax bushes for Tuis, and chasing the starlings away when they burgle the Tuis' nectar. The comments preview and error pages I'll be fixing shortly - there's quite a few templates in MT that need updating if one is to have consistency. More than I thought, that's for sure.

Unless you get a bigger tank I think you’ll have to let some go.

I bought some stick insects off the internet, when they arrived they were really tiny. I have had them for 6 months now and I can not believe how much they have grown (approx 5” long) They are great fun and are really easy to look after, I recommed anyone how is interested to buy them.
