Rosa was born one year ago today. I have no idea where the time went.
Most of the birthday action occurred while I was at work… and by the time I got home she was a bit scratchy and over tired. But a good day was had, and even if the significance of the presents passed her by she loved being sung Happy Birthday by the family gathered around. Multiple times.
And later, we and her larger sister danced to Roam by the B52’s. Not only is it Bella’s current favourite song (thanks to a TV car ad), but Rosa, even at one, is not a person that misses out on a chance for a boogie. So we had a sweet father and daughters moment…
...without anything but the love we feel…

Dude, I have to say you sound like the coolest Dad in the world. And this coming from a guy who doesn't particularly want/like kids. I recently posted on the issue of smacking in my blog, as a parent what's your opinion?

Thanks for the complement... but really you'd need to ask Rosa her opinion in 20 years time to get the truth. As for smacking, I think you are on to it. We don't do it (however sorely tempted we may be). Where I think the anti-smacking thing is tricky is that no-one's out there offering any good alternatives for those people to whom smacking is second nature. Hell, I'd like to hear more alternative strategies too - sending Bella to her room is no longer a punishment that she respects...
