It’s taken me 12 hours to figure out what you are referring to, Patrick. In our household, wipes have a, uh… very specific use. It’s not something I like to think too much about.
But yes, the film does enjoy a certain overuse of cinematic wipes. Anyone would think ol’ George had just got a copy of Final Cut Express to use with his brand new DV cam and was going mad on transitions…
Wipes have been part of Lucas’ “vision” since the first SW film. He uses them quite a bit throughout. Can’t remember whether they’re used much in Empire or Jedi; but then, he didn’t direct those.

Star Wars. But it does apply quite nicely to Dancing with the Stars, as well.
Norm’s costume: preposterous. Norm and partner’s dancing… beautiful.

Well no one can accuse you of ruining the plot.
Technical note: I often have connection problems getting to your site for some reason. It often seems unavailable.

The first one was like that too (er… I mean the 4th one). it’s probably just his attempt at regaining continuity.
