uncle^3
So once again, I am an Uncle. My little niece Eva has a new baby sister Meg, as of a week or so ago. The birth was nowhere near as eventful as Eva’s, thank goodness.
You’ve got to laugh. My Mum struggled away with three boys: a collective whirlwind of mess, noise, smell, dirt, and a total inability to piss straight that had her demanding her own shower and toilet just to be assured of quiet and clean surroundings for at least part of the day. And now she has four granddaughters.
I could, fairly reliably, inform her that small girls aren’t completely innocent in these matters, but I’m not sure she’d believe me.

“yesterday just yesterday”
fantastic proof-reading james.

well, there’s a coincidence: my sister-in-law gave birth to her second daughter just yesterday.
my wife is similarly a bit jealous of the gender imbalance between the respective families (her sister, husband and my two nieces live just across the hill in Island Bay).
suggestions we keep trying for a girl are met with a level gaze, and little else…

Congrats to you both (in the Uncle stakes).
If Liz and I don’t have a “Meg” then maybe Jack will have to start wearing a dress on a more permanent basis (he loves dressing up).

Good point, Jessie. In 20 years time, Mike’s kids will be off-kilter rock stars with an ambiguous seeming relationship.

‘Ambiguous seeming’ is putting it lightly!
