properly

Rosa’s new word is “properly”. It is used whenever her well-defined sense of order is violated.

Like at lunch – she kept complaining: “It’s not properly!”

Eventually we figured out that she was upset that the upper and lower pieces of bread in her little triangles of cheese toasted sandwich had come out of alignment. Once we lined them up again, she’d happily eat them.

Very fussy, at times, this girl.

Next: “I not properly!”

This time, she was half sliding off her chair in an effort to escape from the table and was about to tip off.

I rescued her… but her freedom was short-lived. First a story, then naptime.

Sleep properly, now.

We get “actually” and “you know”, which reflects pretty poorly on our diction.

ah, language. my youngest mispronounces ‘proper/properly’ as plopper and plopperly.

    and rugby is rubbly.

“dad! can we play rubbly plopperly?”

We have girls, so of course from the younger one I get things like (while attempting to do a twirl) “Look Dad! I’m a banarina!”
