This is half-pie.

sunday morning (again)

Last month, on a lazy Sunday morning much like this one, I somewhat rashly asserted that:

I can supervise from the safety of the dining table, sun at my back, with the Sunday paper and a latté.

So this morning I was at it again, having this time put the Wiggles Hoop-Dee-Doo: It’s a Wiggly Party on at volume in the next room while I had my coffee and read the paper.

About halfway through the CD Becky arrived from her repose.

“The girls are having a lot of fun outside, aren’t they?”, she said.

“WHAT!”

Sure enough, while my attention was elsewhere they’d opened a window onto the deck, gone down the steps on to the lawn, and were busy squirting each other with the garden hose. Before going on to play on the swing (and Rosa missing a big, er, appointment) in cold and wet clothes.

Like the very modern parents we are, we were mainly concerned with the lack of sunscreen used before escaping, rather than the fact of their escape. After all, that’s what kids do, right?

But it was definitely another triumph for my supervisory powers. I wouldn’t hire me as a babysitter, that’s for sure.

One of my favourite Wiggles albums, that one. And that’s definitely a standout track – a cover of a classic Perry Como song from when our fathers were in short trousers.

And Rosa’s favourite Wiggles album too. She keeps on getting out Wiggly Safari by mistake (it’s in a Digipak too) and getting really peeved about it.

    I have never tried a latté before….

haha I love the way how some kids can be so mysterious. I hate parents that make their kids grow up too fast, kids are kids and that’s what makes them cool!

Hehe – reading that post reminds of the time that I apparently squirted Dad with the garden hose!! Awww I wish I could remember doing that! :-(

Reshma: the girls are five and two, good ages for looking after one another. They are lots and lots of fun.

And whatever you do, don’t try a latté. One sip, and you’ll be hooked on caffeine forever: virtue gone; body ruined; and wallet emptied. Just SAY NO to DRUGS!

In fact, Mr Reasonable and I SAY NO to DRUGS twice every day. In his case, more than twice, I think.

I actually don’t like caffeine! I really don’t. I have been off chocolate for ages and have gone of any drinks that have caffeine in it.
