christmas card 2005
Once again, more fevered image manipulation.
This time, I thought I’d try a mosaic approach, having found a nice app to do the job (the base image, a gradient starting white in the middle and black around the outside was created with The Gimp).
The mosaic app cruised over all the images we’ve taken this year, eventually arriving with what you see here. Of course, we had to have a centrepiece, and there the girls are on the front step of their wendy-house.
And the font: well, that’s a font created from my own handwriting. Last year sometime there was a free site that you could send in a scan of your writing. But now I can’t remember where it is.
Not my best effort, but it’s good enough, and even better, it’s DONE. One less thing to think about. Now it’s up to FrogPrints for the rest… and of course us to actually get our sh*t together and send them out before Christmas…

Cripes, you’re a domestic goddess. God I mean. Although it doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.
You should make it a virtual card somehow, so all us bloggers can print it out and write a fond message to ourselves from you in the manner of people who perhaps don’t get sent dozens of cards…

Domestic goddess? Yeah right. I’ve only just realised it’s not elves who are cleaning the toilet.
The site where I got the font made was Fontifier – no longer free, but only $9US.
Virtual card… hmmmm…

Very nice. Also, what’s happened to your RSS feed? Seems I actually have to come here & look to see if you’ve posted another hot domestic topic up.

A while back I changed to Feedburner – although it should have just worked for everyone without changing.
However, try changing the RSS URL to:

Will FrogPrints print it out onto a card? I thought they just did photos. I should have a look.
What’s this thing using feedburner? You have your own domain and website, you should be hosting it all yourself!
Ben.

Ben: agree on hosting it myself… it’s just that being such a statswhore I wanted to know how many regular subscribers I have (around 40 at the moment) and how often they (or their machines) drop by each day (about 5 times apiece).
These aren’t stats that are easy to come by any other way.
And yes, Frogprints will output to a card. It’s a little pricey, but boy o boy the rellies really lap it up big time.

Nice card. Alas I’m almost convinced by the family member in charge of seemliness that my picture of gleeful brown-eye-ing and bladder voiding daughters against the reflections of sky in the sea would be too long-lived for future family harmony if used in our one.

Wise, very wise.
Does any photo posted to the ‘net pass the “21st Birthday Party” test?

What I want to know is, what do you leave out for toilet elves?
Alan

I don’t know. Toilet elves would be too cleanly to want us to leave something to eat for them, so it would have to be something else.
What about origami hats made of squares of toilet paper? I should try it and see if it works.

Thanks Reshma!
We’ll be sending them out as soon as we can now, although in previous years they’ve gone out on Christmas Eve.
Not as good as my elderly auntie in Gore whose card arrives around 1 December each year…
