In a couple weeks time Becky and I celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. It seems hard to believe: it just doesn’t seem like a full decade since that warm summer’s day in Masterton.

But I’m not really focussing on all those good times at the moment because instead I have an immediate and difficult problem to solve. Just what will I get/do to celebrate this occasion?

So, I’m trying to think of:

  1. things to do to celebrate it; and/or
  2. things that would make nice gifts.

The local agony aunts at work (you know who you are, K. & F.) inform me that girls always like jewellery, so I’m off to have a look at the shops now. Any other suggestions gratefully received…

Something involving babysitters, wine, a night in a boutique hotel in the Wairarapa…

And jewellery is good. The jewellery part of Avid is goooood.

Alternatively you can do what we do each year, and only remember 2 days later. Seems the 5th January is a completely forgettable date.

Perhaps a new wireless router, or 5.1 channel DVD player?
I hear Plasma screens are also a hit for anniversaries
    :)

Martha: I’m liking that idea – we were thinking of something similar, maybe up the coast instead. And Avid, yep, I agree: have bought some good stuff there in the past. Hmmm.

Ben: I’m seeing a Tui ad here.

Good idea, just quietly, I prefer the coast. I can’t say it too loudly though, as my parent’s main pad is in the Wairarapa.

For some reason the coastal route doesn’t seem to have the same class of dining establishments, although I hear that place in Waikanae is pretty good.

Sean suggests a Blackberry, so she can read your blog wherever she goes, which is hopeful as I’ve kind of suggested he might want to get me one for my birthday that’s at the same time.

My godmother is a jeweller and has a wonderful and strange shop (Jewellery Arts Studio in the back of the cable car arcade). But Rebecca’s current lifestyle doesn’t allow much jewellery. So I think you should get another shoot of photos preferably by the photographer who took those ones with the industrial strange backgrounds of you guys for her 21st or whatever it was.

That last idea is a pretty good one Susan: but although we have tracked her down in the past, I don’t think she’s in the biz any more. I’ll have another search…

The traditional 10th Anniversary is Tin/Aluminium and the modern is Diamond.

I can’t think of any appealing ‘tin’ gifts off the top of my head – But perhaps you could have some fun with it!

    Your 10th Anniversary huh! – That’s Awesome!

I wouldn’t have a clue what you could get your other half.
Hmmm what would I like from a guy for an Anniversary present? Jewellery would be nice… but the thing that would totally Amaze me would be a Boat Cruise to somewhere!! – doesn’t have to be to a Glamorous place, any place nice would be Amazing! – then again what am I saying, I’m so picky that of course it would have to be to a Glamorous place! – But that’s just me! ;-)
