random crap pt. 55
I’m ploughing through a bottle of riesling while surfing.
- here’s a graphic illustration of one of the many perils of fishing (via Schneier )
- we’re looking forward to a holiday
- I have to complete my team. But I don’t know who is who any more. My cousins will beat me again, damn it all.
- the girls love that buffalo vs. lion vs. croc video
- years ago, solo on another cold and damp night, I get a hell of a fright watching Eraserhead. Being more of a fan of music than movies, I see this song, and nearly kek my daks. How the fuck did the Pixies end up in here, I thought, before realising what had just happened…
- Tony Wilson is dead. I’m saddened. Joy Division; New Order; the Durutti Column; A Certain Ratio; Happy Mondays… and many more lurk still in my last bin of vinyl and thankfully duplicated in my drawers of CDs. I want to watch 24 Hour Party People again and again.
That’s enough. It’s bedtime, and my girls awaiteth no hangover on a Sunday morning.

Enjoy the Sunshine coast! That’s my old neck of the woods, and my wifes parents have a house in the Noosa hinterland. Let me know if you want some good coffee recommendations (no MOJO there….yet).

Thanks, that would be great!
Did I pass you in Woodward St on Thursday? Are you not at Mojo any more?

Yes it was me, I think we exchanged the “don’t I know you from somewhere?” look. I left MOJO about 4 months ago to go back to I.T. work, but I’ve just bitten the bullet and bought into the old bank store, so I’ll be back in a few weeks.

Good for you. Obviously you can’t keep away from the coffee business (and IT really isn’t the best way to go cold turkey – excess caffeine consumption is practically compulsory).
Still, I’m serious about the nice coffee around Noosa thing, so I’ll ask you when I see you in a few weeks. :-)

There is a local roaster at Yandina (just south of Noosa), haven’t been there myself yet but the word (well, coffee geeks word) is that it is worth a visit – see www.coffeeroastery.com.au. They have an outlet at the Maroochydore airport if you fly in there (if you head through Brisbane airport I would recommend a nice cup of tea….). Otherwise, I have had a few nice shots from Aromas on Hastings St or try your luck with some of the newer cafes popping up along the Noosa river.
