Day One...
…of my Go Wellington / Tramways Union sponsored fitness plan was today. And maybe it was the last day too.
But what a nice day for a walk to work: sunny and warm; and lots to look at along the way. Why, in the photo you can see: one Oriental Bay fountain; one departing ferry; and one finger.
And for only the second time in eight years, I tried walking home too – it took me about 35 minutes to walk from work (near the south end of Lambton Quay) to the Wadestown shops, where Becky and the girls were getting takeaways.
I nearly died, but I am so much healthier now, right?
(Apart from those takeaways.)

My current “commute” is a 25 minute walk (uphill both ways, through snow*, damn kids get off my lawn, etc. etc.).
Of course, from next week it’s more like 15 minutes each way, pretty much flat. Hard to complain (unless it is snowing* or raining…)
(* Of course, there’s no snow at this time of year, but that’s not the point. Really.)

You must be close to the centre of town! Is there any public transport if it rains?

Probably, but it’d probably take longer than just walking (with an umbrella, of course).
http://tr.im/3e8 is my walk, if you’re curious.

Interesting – it’s a very short walk (iTrail tells me that mine is 4.64km). One of these days (once the kids are bigger) it’d be nice to have a look at Vancouver – I’ve heard many good things.
The other cool thing about yours is that it’s close to a lot of the streets in Vancouver whose names were used for the first run of servers at TextDrive. Weirdly familiar.

It’s a great place – it has quite a Wellington vibe, in a way. Of course unlike Wellington it has Tim Hortons. And Stephos (oh so good lamb).
Of course living right downtown it’s rather easy to forget that it’s kind of bigger than Wellington though…
