It has been a long time, too long. That’s what happens when you have new obsessions (like the ukelele, though more on that another day), and other more regular stuff to do (like reading, sleeping).

In fact, I think I need to do some reading and sleeping shortly. But first, I need to tune my ukulele and have a bit of a burst.

Hi Alan, speaking of obsessions … I have recently come across the halfpie site and the discussions of buying bilums. I have loved them for ages (when I visited the Solomon Islands, on my way to the airport in Honiara recently, when I saw that people there had them my partner had to practically hold me back from jumping out of the taxi to try to offer people money from them there and then), however, we would have missed our plane so I didn’t end up with one.

I know this discussion is quite old now but I’m wondering a) if you still have contact details for Tinah (in the hope that she may still have some), and b) I’d really love to talk with you about getting some bilims. My name is Gina gina.bloom@optusnet.com.au.

i’d be very gratefully to discuss this with you (and indeed with anyone else who has an interest in bilums). I’m in Melbourne but skypeable and emailable

    kind regards

    Gina
