My Other Stuff...
…being made up of a combination of parts of my Flickr stream; recent wines reviewed on Corkscore; my Blippr reviews; and blip.fm blips, this reads a little like a list of recent obsessions.
Which is it, in a way…
d'Arenberg The Stump Jump Red 2008
88 points - Light red, fruity on the nose but perhaps a little too acidic, initially. Over time, some lovely berry flavours emerge. It's a lovely value for money red with a great family story (I'm a sucker for human-sized corporate narratives, true or not).
Tasted on Fri, Mar 12, 2010.
Lindemans Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
2 days ago
82 points - Red-brown, not much fruit, extreme tannins bordering on unpleasant. But yet, not quite undrinkable (if your throat is dry and that's all the boss has in the cupboard).

Yealands Estate Wines Estate Gewürztraminer 2008

88 points - Pale, good varietal characteristics, very aromatic, Turkish delight on the exhale. Medium dry styled, well balanced.
Tasted on Fri, Mar 5, 2010.
Wycroft Old River Terrace Pinot Noir 2007

88 points - Red with a touch of brown. Lovely Pinot characteristics, perhaps a little lacking towards the end, but very nice and no doubt great with food.

Marvin Gaye vs. The Pixies – Get It On My Mind (DJ Zebra Mash)
Genius squared, through some gallic formula applied by DJ Zebra.
Lindemans Reserve Shiraz 2007

84 points - Deep red, a little bit of raspberry leaf and a hint of anise... but quite heavy and one dimensional. A bit average.

dubh loved "The Magicians" on blippr

Beautifully written, short but fulfilling, this is a great story about what it might mean to be a magician. Fantasy, yes, but grounded in character & humanity. =D
Dönnhoff Oberhäusen Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett 2007
31 days ago
90 points - Couldn't find much on the nose, though I've been spoiled with younger, New World wines. Medium styled, honeyed, with great balancing acid. Tiny aftertaste of toffee - oxidation? Very very drinkable, and another handy low alcohol midweek drop. (8.5% )

Fallen Angel Riesling 2009

87 points - Pale yellow, off-dry, lovely nectarines in the mouth. Not bad for winebar wine.

Penfolds Winemaker's Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

87 points - Dark red, nice big and soft with little hints of mint and marzipan. Not bad.

Crawford Farm Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2008
46 days ago
86 points - Perfectly decent Sauvignon Blanc, typical Marlborough flavours with a little tropical pineapple as well.
Tasted on Tue, Jan 26, 2010.
Stoneleigh Rapaura Chardonnay 2008
86 points - Nice straw yellow colour, but to my taste over-oaked and not very distinctive.
Tasted on Sun, Jan 24, 2010.
Peter Lehmann Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
84 points - Some burnt sugar / caramel on the nose, a deep red with a touch of brown. In the mouth it's overwhelmingly tannic and woody-flavoured, not a very full taste.
Tasted on Fri, Jan 22, 2010.
Forrest Estate The Doctors' Riesling 2009
51 days ago
91 points - A bit of a revelation for me really—this is a sweet riesling (following the IRF taste profile) that I find absolutely delicious. Very pale in colour, a full nose—even my kids could tell me about the apples in there. In the mouth more apples and some lovely citrusy acid. Very very drinkable, especially chilled on hot summer days. And as an added bonus, its low alcohol means an extra glass on a weeknight won't get you into trouble. [alc. 8.5% , acid: 8.2g/l, pH: 3.01, res. sugar: 39g/l]

Victor Menegaux – Going Back To Dani (Notorious B.I.G. vs. Red Hot Chili Peppers)

Finally, a track that makes sense of both the Chili Peppers & Notorious AT THE SAME TIME.
